January 2009

Dear Colleagues:
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm invitation for you to join us this SEPTEMBER 21-24 at the Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado, to celebrate our 25th Clean Air Conference. It has been our privilege to host this conference since 1984. Our first conference was held at the Stanley. The Stanley Hotel, known for its architecture, magnificent setting and famous visitors, may possibly be best known today for its inspirational role in Stephen King's novel "The Shining". The hotel has been featured as one of America's most haunted hotels and is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2009!

The Conference has grown to over 250 participants representing industry, government, environmental organizations, educators, and others from North America and around the world. As before, we are hosting the Conference in "Colorful Colorado" - an ideal setting to reflect on clean air issues.

This year, we will again be discussing a wide range of crucial and timely issues. We plan to host a panel of our "Wise Elders" who will help us understand our place in the history of clean air. The Stanley will provide the setting for us to gather insights and expertise as we continue our common efforts for cleaner air and a better environment.

We look forward to seeing you in Estes Park this September.

Sincerely,

Lenora Bohren, Ph.D., Director
National Center for Vehicle Emissions
Control and Safety
